Gillhams Resort Staff

Our resort has grown over the years and the current team of staff do an outstanding job of maintaining a premier fishing resort. In total we have 45 members of staff who help with the day to day running of the resort plus lots behind the scenes. Be sure to say hello, we all enjoy a chat and let us know if there is anything we can do for you.

Management

The management team at Gillhams Resort do a superb job with the day-to-day running of the resort and behind the scenes. Managing everything from check-ins and outs, staff rotas, wages, bills, fish stock, bookings, ordering supplies for the resort, organizing your day trips - anything and everything.
Sean Gillham

Sean Gillham - Sean has been at the resort from day one and has taken over the reigns from his dad Stuart. Sean has a great knowledge of fish and oversees the running of the resort. Having been living in Thailand for 20 years, he has a good knowledge of the local Thai culture.

Noi Gillham - Noi is Sean's wife and they have two beautiful children, Tyler and Alicia. Noi helps manage the Thai side of the business, making the resort tick over nicely. Originally from Koh Samui, Noi can answer any questions you may have about Thailand and can advise on the perfect location for your day trips.

Chris Pace

Chris Pache - Chris came as a guest many years ago and never left! Chris works a lot behind the scenes, helping to roll our boilies and all the important odd jobs around the site. Chris has a good knowledge of fishing and Thailand and is a great laugh. You will see him around the resort, checking our oxygen levels and also in the restaurant, in the evenings during your stay.

Dan Williams

Dan Williams - Dan has been with us for three years now and manages all of our social media, check ins/outs, admin duties and general day to day jobs around the resort. If you see Buddy, the resort dog, then Dan won't be far away. Dan is on hand if you need any assistance with anything during your stay.

Olly Koster

Olly Koster - Olly manages the fishing side of the resort, making sure all of our guests are happy, organizing swims, guide rotas and maintaining all of our fishing equipment for our guests. Olly can speak Thai and is on hand if you need anything during your stay.

Noon - Noon manages our Thai staff employees, along with her cousin, Noi. Noon works very hard on the front of house side of the resort. Noon is also a great chef and if you are lucky you may have her teaching you in the Thai Cooking School. Some of the nicely decorated rooms you see when you check in, will be Noon's doing. Noon is on hand to help book your day trips and answer any questions you may have.

Buddy

Buddy - Buddy is a Hungarian Vizsla, was imported from Hungary and is seven years old. A better dog, you couldn't wish for. Buddy manages the pest control on the resort, keeping tabs on anything that enters 'his patch'. Buddy is very friendly with people and enjoys a back scratch or ear massage. Buddy is very well behaved and won't steal your food or bait. He does enjoy a little bit of bacon or sausage but please do not overfeed him.

Fishing Guides

All of our Thai guides speak English and work very hard to get our guests as many fish as possible. We also have English staff around the resort. Our guides have a great sense of humor and enjoy the banter with guests. The fishing guide’s jobs do not entail the following, but if they have time they will sometimes help…

Baiting and making  ground-bait this also includes spomb or catapult work.

Depth and feature finding: you are supplied a rod for this if you ask.

Casting or striking your rods.

Running errands delivering food and drinks, and certainly not looking after under 16 year olds.

Our guide’s jobs are:

To offer advice, tie and make sure your rigs are safe.

To net your fish and tell you how to handle them correctly.

To administer any health care the fish requires.

We do not supply one-on-one guiding. Our guides assist all anglers on the one stretch of bank they are assigned to. Should you hook a fish and the guide is busy elsewhere, please blow on the whistle provided.

Tipping is not compulsory; it is your decision. All our guides get a basic salary along with their food and keep. They rely on your generosity for the service they gave you. Again please do not feel tipping is compulsory, but it is very much appreciated.

All other staff at the resort share the service charge which is added to your bill at the resort, if you feel any of the resort staff have been helpful and friendly by all means feel free to tip them, it is greatly appreciated.

The man, the myth, the legend.

To some, Yut needs no introduction, if you have spent some time with him, then you know! 🫵

Yut has his own style of catching fish, mixing traditional Thai methods with modern European fishing styles. Yut, 52, is the oldest guide on the lake but has years of fishing experience - having previously worked as a fishing guide before coming to Gillhams. Yut has caught huge fish all over Thailand from a variety of waters using different methods. 👏

He loves meeting new people and has made some great friends through the resort over the years. We even have guests just coming back to see him! Yut is the man who coined the popular phrase “In Da Mouth” - you might hear him shout this as he slips the net under a fish. 😂

Yut says he “loves working at Gillhams and dreamt of working in paradise for a long time.” He finds it “relaxing and rewarding.” Yut always has a big smile on his face when he makes a new friend or welcomes back familiar faces. His favourite species in the lake are the Mekong catfish due to their great condition and huge sizes. 😊

Yut is a character in his own right who has a massive heart and will help anybody. When he is not guiding, Yut owns a restaurant and also manages a farm locally. Yut doesn't drink alcohol so is just grateful for friendship and kindness. 🤗

Yut

Pat has been with us for a while now and has helped catch lots of personal bests for customers since he started. Pat, 26, originally from Khon Kaen in north-east Thailand, spent a year in America as part of his younger education so is a little westernized which means he speaks fluent English.

Since working here at the resort Pat has enjoyed learning how to handle big fish such as Mekong Catfish. Pat’s favourite species at Gillhams is the Chao Phraya catfish because “they give a great fight, are very strong and look beautiful.” A big part of the enjoyment working here for Pat is the fact he gets to see and handle big fish everyday.

Pat is always thinking outside the box and always wants to know what, why and how? He watches a lot of European fishing videos online to help his knowledge of rigs and different fishing situations. He is continuously improving and not afraid to try something new. Pat is the type of guide you can bounce ideas off and get lost in angling conversation with.

Being passionate about fishing, he is always out angling on his days off and particularly enjoys targeting Giant Snakehead. Pat is very approachable so why not grab him a can of Schweppes Lime and have a good ole chin wag whilst you wait for that line to go tight and start peeling from your reel.

Pat

This is Bell, he has been with us for five years now and has helped many customers land their fish of a lifetime. Bell speaks very good English, ask him to do some accents if you fancy a laugh! 😂

When Bell first started at Gillhams, the European style of angling was completely alien to him. He learnt quickly though and developed an array of armoury to outwit the fish that reside in the lake. We call him the ‘silent assassin’. He watches the water like nobody else and subtly and discreetly helps catch fish even at the hardest of fishing times.

Bell is 28 and married, originally from Roi-et, Northern Thailand, he has now made Krabi his home and loves helping people catch fish 🎣 every day. He is great at tackle maintenance, there's not a lot he can't fix either.

Bell is very funny and loyal once you get to know him. A word of warning though, much of his English he learned from listening to hip hop so sometimes every other word can be an explicit one 🤣.

His favourite species at Gillhams is the Golden Julians Carp because “they're sexy”. Bell says he enjoys working at Gillhams because he can meet lots of new people and he enjoys taking the pi** out of Chris. (sorry Chris 😄)

His favourite memories so far are being bit on the knee by a small Asian Red Tail Catfish during lake maintenance when he first started and also seeing an angler holding two rods at once due to a double hook up and shouting “HELP“ across the lake. 😂

His favourite drink is Chang so why not put him one in behind the bar if he has helped you during the day.
