Elephant Trekking

Elephant trekking is one of Thailand’s biggest and most successful daytrips and there are elephant camps in every tourist town throughout Thailand. Unfortunately many tourists have bad experiences with some elephant tours due to animal cruelty and boring locations, as many treks consist of walking around open fields and rubber plantations rather than lush tropical rain forests through nature trails, down scenic rivers and crossing streams.

Luckily for our customers here at Gillhams Fishing Resorts we have tried and tested every elephant trekking tour Krabi has to offer. We have only one elephant trekking tour we recommend our customers to use.

Only a 30-minute drive from Gillhams Fishing Resorts you will find Huay Tho Waterfall set in a beautiful National Park area of Krabi. Here they have a safari elephant tour consisting of four separate programs.

Program 1: Full day tour:

One-hour elephant ride through the jungle and along the crystal clear streams of the National Park.

Visit Huay Tho waterfall and take a refreshing swim or just bathe in the cold mountain springs.

Take a midday lunch break and experience the surroundings and jungle calls by many different birds, monkeys and other wild animals.

After lunch you will leave the waterfalls and go to the tiger cave temple where you can walk around inside temples and find lots of information behind the Buddhist culture. For people feeling athletic, you can take a climb up 1,237 steps to the top of the mountain where you can take in the views of the second highest temple in Thailand and also see some of the most breathtaking views of Krabi and the surrounding national park.

After the temple you will be taken along the mangroves of Krabi river by a longtail boat and visit a traditional fishing village before ending your day at one of Krabi’s biggest fruit markets sampling some of the freshest fruits that grow throughout Thailand.
